Garage Doors

On average, new garage doors with a motor cost somewhere between $1,300–$1,600, depending on the accessories (windows, insulation, handles, etc.) that are added to the door.

A normal garage door installation takes about two hours. During this time, the technician will assemble the door, track, motor, and all other required accessories. They will also mount the door and program the sensors, keypad, and openers to ensure that everything is working correctly.

It is recommended that a garage door be serviced at least twice a year to ensure that it remains in peak condition. LA Rain Pros garage door technicians are expertly trained and certified. During a service visit, our technician will take the following steps to ensure your garage door is safe and in working order:

  1. Visual Inspection: Look at springs, cables, rollers, and pulleys to determine if they are working correctly or need to be repaired or replaced.
  2. Lubrication: This is an essential service performed by our technicians that minimizes the wear on parts every time the door opens.
  3. Door Balance: Tests whether the door lifts without much effort or resistance. If there are, adjustments or repairs to various parts may be required.

Insulated garage doors are normally constructed with two layers of steel surrounding one layer of insulation. They are thick, energy-efficient, and typically recommended for most homes. Non-insulated garage doors are more commonly used for detached garages and milder climates; they are thinner, noisier, and may appear less sturdy. Insulated doors usually cost more but often increase the value of a home.

Garage doors come in a variety of colors. Most contractors install a white door and paint it to match the home, but LA Rain Pros can order any available color for you to avoid post-installation painting.

Common causes include misaligned eye sensors or the door being locked. Check that sensors are clear and aligned, and ensure the lock is disengaged. If issues persist, call LA Rain Pros as a more serious problem may exist.

Typically programmed by our technicians during installation. To program manually:

  1. Clear the garage door area of obstructions.
  2. Locate the learn button on the keypad.
  3. Press the learn button twice. The LED will flash.
  4. Enter a 4-digit pin of your choice on the keypad and press enter.
  5. The opener lights will blink, indicating programming is complete.

Gutters

Clean gutters at least 4 times a year, especially if near trees. Wear thick gloves, safety glasses, and a mask. Use nonabrasive cloths and cleaning solutions like water with vinegar or household detergent. Avoid metal brushes or steel wool, which can scratch aluminum gutters.

Tiger stripes are vertical stains on aluminum gutters caused by dirt and moisture. They may require stronger cleaning solutions or professional service. For DIY, products like Fantastik All-Purpose Cleaner can help remove stains; rinse and allow gutters to dry before repeating if necessary.

It is possible to install gutters on an angled facia board using two different methods. The first method involves the use of stainless-steel T-straps that can hook into the gutter and screws into the roof decking. The second method uses a wedge designed to be inserted onto the back of the gutter. This wedge creates a flat surface for the gutter to sit on.

It is recommended that gutters be installed under the drip edge. Drip edge is an important component to any home, as it promotes water to run freely down your roof edge down into your gutters. Without drip edge, water may run down or behind your gutter, down facia board, and siding, and can eventually lead to damage. When working correctly, drip edge and gutters work together to control the direction of the water and protect the underlying components of the building.

The average gutter installation can be completed within one day. Therefore, the day of your installation is typically the day that the job will be completed. However, two-story buildings or buildings with many obstacles could take longer.

The average price of a 2,000 square foot home with 6” aluminum gutters will typically fall somewhere between $1,300 to $1,700.

**Due to current material shortages prices may be temporarily subject to change.

Occasionally we have leaking gutters. The first step to fixing a leak is to determine the cause. There are several things that can cause gutters to begin leaking such as debris, damage, or any external home repair, improvement, or remodel such as a new roof. The first thing that you can do is make sure that your gutters are not clogged in any way. Clogged gutters can cause water to build up over time and even cause a blockage that leaves no room for the water to flow properly. This may cause your gutters to begin to leak or overflow. Clogged gutters are a simple fix and often it will be easy enough to remove the debris (leaves, pine straw, etc.) yourself.

If you notice that your gutters are clear of all debris, but you are still experiencing leaking gutters, we recommend calling our office. Every gutter installation job performed by LA Rain Pros is under warranty and we can schedule a time to come out to inspect, identify, and fix the problem. If LA Rain Pros did not perform the original gutter installation, we can still repair the leak for a minimal service charge.

Water leaking from behind gutters, for example between the gutter and the facia board, is often due to a roofing or other external issue rather than a problem with the gutters. The most common issues that can cause water to leak from behind the gutters are short shingle overhangs and shingle ski slopes (which occurs when the shingles curl up at the end). The good thing is that both problems are easy to fix by adding a drip edge or a gutter apron to redirect the water back into the gutters.
